About Renee DeSorbo
I have always loved the beauty and wonder that can be found in the smallest places. My passion for the arts heavily influences everything I do and who I am. My two degrees from the University of Southern Maine in Studio Art and English was how I believed I would follow my passion. I also received a minor in Poetry, but like many artists, I struggled finding work. Going to the Electrology Institute of New England meant that I was going to invest in myself in a new way. I knew this was something I could excel at and I wanted to help other people. I am so glad I found the courage to do something unusual. My job as an electrologist is incredibly rewarding. I love my clients and I feel so honored to be a part of their transformation. I love helping clients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) or hirsutism finally get rid of excessive hair. I love helping clients who are preparing for bottom surgery. I take pride in being someone my clients can count on.
Giving back matters:
Honey Bee Electrolysis has proudly made charitable donations to: World Central Kitchen (over 1K), The Children's Organ Transplant Association, The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine, USA for UNHCR (United Nations Human Rights Council), The Longest Day Alzheimer’s Association and a local girl scout troop in Gray, Maine.
Common Questions
DOES ELECTROLysis REALLY WORK?
Absolutely. Proper insertions from a skilled technician guarantees permanency. It is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal. I believe in this method and it has helped me feel good about myself. I am excited to offer more choices about permanent hair removal to you and your community. Honey Bee Electrolysis wants you to be happy and hair free. Even if you have had electrolysis done in the past and found it was not effective, consider trying a different technician and newer equipment. When done properly electrolysis shows immediate results.
WHAT ABOUT LASER?
Whenever you are working on a larger area on the body consider starting with laser hair removal first. Although it is not FDA approved for permanency it can thin hair out quickly. It is permanent hair reduction which is awesome and helpful. This could save you time and money. Good candidates for laser include: someone with full dark facial hair (this means hair all over the chin, neck, sides of face and upper/lower lip), leg hair, an individuals entire back or chest and or someone’s entire genital area. Once laser has done all it can for you, finish the job with an electrologist.
Shaving, Plucking, And Waxing...
Razor burn is painful. Plucking or waxing facial hair can sometimes promote more hair growth. When hairs are forcibly removed, blood is brought to the surface of your skin. This can make hormonal hairs healthier; aiding them to grow deeper into your skin with bigger bulbs. Electrolysis works by treating the bulbs with electrical current before removing the hair. When this is done properly, during the hair’s growth period, it will let go, sliding out of the follicle without being plucked.
GETting STARTED
Please send a detailed email including what you need done. Be sure to include as much information as possible. If it is facial hair you would like removed then please send photos. If your hair is fine, blond or soft, and does not photograph well, this clinic is not for you. I am not accepting clients who want peach-fuzz or vellus hair removed. Vellus hair belongs on your body and it is best to leave it alone. Thank you for your understanding. If you need bottom prep done do not send photos of your genitalia. Just tell me information about your surgery. Also please be aware I do not accept Maine-care or insurance of any kind. I can give you a detailed receipt for you to submit to your insurance company and later receive reimbursement from them.
How frequent will i come?
The average hair growth cycle is twelve weeks long. Each hair is on its own schedule within those twelve weeks. In order to make sure every hair in the affected area has been treated at least once, it is best to be in touch with your electrologist for twelve weeks before seeing any large permanent results. After this twelve week mark it is easier to see what effect the treatments have had on your hairs. All hairs require a different number of treatments. Thinner hair would need less treatment than a thicker hair. Some clients only need to come once during a cycle (once every 12 weeks) while others might need to come by weekly until the growth is under control.
Before And After Care…
It is best to come to the clinic with clean and healthy skin. Before your treatment, any makeup, creams, and perfumes should be removed. A lot of people have sensitivities to perfumes so please refrains from using perfume on days you’ll be visiting. After your treatment it is important to continue to keep your skin clean and healthy so it can properly recover from electrolysis. This includes refraining from using makeup, going tanning, or using a sauna for the remainder of the day. Every treatment is different so the specifics of this will be covered in your visit.
